Admits; a misused word in my opinion

Admits; "Verb: 1. Declare to be true or admit the existence or reality or truth of" I will be talking to someone and a subject comes up where I tell something about myself. This is told openly without the use of any kind of coercion. Now the trouble is the retelling by the next person and the retelling generally starts with 'he/she 'ADMITS', Hell no, I did not admit to a goddamn thing, you asked I told, WHAT, you had me on my face twisting my arm around my neck... I do not think so... I will quit here before I am interrogated in a small cement block room with a hot glaring light beating down into my face until I really do ADMIT to something.
